What is VRML ?

Japanese here

VRML(Virtual Reality Modeling Language) is a new data format to build interactive 3D graphic worlds, just like HTML is for hyper texts. It was originially developed to construct "cyberspace" accessible from all over the world via the internet.
VRML allows for 3D modelling, scene structure, animation, sound, sensor functions, script programs, etc., on the internet.

VRML 1.0 was rather static worlds, but VRML 2.0 was discussed by the VRML mailing-list group (www-vrml@vrml.org), and developped to be "moving-worlds"
In December 1997, VRML97 was formally released as International Standard (ISO/IEC 14772-1:1997).
